Desktop Does Not Refresh After Desktop Folder Redirection

We've been implementing a desktop folder redirection using group
policy. The redirection it self works just fine, but we have run into a
problem with it on laptops.

Initially, you can create a file and save it to the desktop and it
immediately shows up. Then, if the laptop is unplugged from the network
and then plugged back in, a new file saved to the desk top does not
immediately appear. For it to show, you must press F5 for a refresh of
the desktop. It is almost as if after being unplugged from the network,
the desktop view is no longer actively refreshed.

I've left the computer alone for a good deal of time to see if it would
ever update the desktop on it's own and it never does.

I already tried what is listed in the following Microsoft KB article
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=823291

I triple checked the registry settings mentioned in the above KB
article and the desktop still will not update properly.

Has anyone run into this or have any idea where to head from here?

I appreciate the help.

Re: Desktop Does Not Refresh After Desktop Folder Redirection

I have seen the same thing. The issue is once windows XP goes into
offline mode for the redirected folders. Once it reconnects and is
"online" the redirected folders no longer update automatically on the
local machine.

The strange thing is that the issue is almost perfectly described as
what happens in KB 823291, but the solution does not fix the problem.
This problem is perfectly repeatable on any of my machines.

Anyone have this problem?
