I am running Windows XP Professional w/ Automatic Updates set. I have
been unable to install the most recent Security update for .NET
Framework 2.0 (Update KB928365). I have researched the Microsoft
Knowledgebase to try to solve the problem. Here's what I have done so
far in my attempts to correct the problem per this link:

1. Downloaded Microsoft's Uninstall utility - deleted and uninstalled
all versions of .NET Framework.
2. Methodically downloaded and re-installed all .NET Framework files
and Service Packs through V 2.0 in sequence
3. Tried to install the latest update again - it failed.
4. Downloaded and installed .Net Framework 3.0 and tried once again to
install the update to 2.0 - It Failed.
5. Tried to download and install .NET Framework 3.5. This version
failed to install.

Suggestions on how to install the Security Update to .NET Framework
2.0 would be appreciated. Any other alternatives (deleting the update)
would be apppreciated as well.

Have you tried using Windows Installer Cleanup to remove all entries for
..NET Framework? Uninstall using the special tool or using Add/Remove
Programs. Restart Windows XP. Turn off your AV program (this is very
important!). Reinstall again up to .NET Framework 2.0 and step 3 above. Use
the link below to get the Installer Cleanup utility :
