| Re: XP Installation problem (Data error cyclic redundancy check) Your hard disk is probably kaput. Buy a new one. If you want to use the disk you have now, go the the drive manufacturer's web site and get their zero write utility. The zero wipe utility is usually part of the diagnostic utilities. Zero write your drive and try to install Windows again. DO NOT EVER rely on the drive for your personal data storage, the drive may fail without additional warning at any given time. | Re: XP Installation problem (Data error cyclic redundancy check) You have two threads on broadly the same subject. 1) Because the hd is new doesnt mean its not bad 2) Your version of winxp doesnt have big lba enabled 3) cyclic redundency err means data is corrupt "Ivan" <Ivan@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:0C02AE79-69CF-40DE-9806-D79AE28F794D@microsoft.com... > But this harddrive is New... probably 3rd time ive used it so far... just > installing xp on it now so there u go... > > But not just that it doesnt show the full 320gig its got... only shows 100 > > "John John" wrote: > >> Your hard disk is probably kaput. It means that the data can no longer be read off the hardware medium, even though the file system may be perfectly OK. Corrupt data could be replaced by good data but a CRC error requires replacement of the storage medium. |
