Help with the "Windows Live mail mail message"

Hi, all.

I have downloaded Windows Live Mail just for tasting, not decided to use it
as the default email client application yet. But after I have installed it,
all my previous .EML files as OutlookExpress Model Files have been changed
to "Windows Live mail mail message", and it is hard to restore to the
original mode, I changed them to .EML files, but can not open them in OE,
Would you please help me?

Re: Help with the "Windows Live mail mail message"

When you install Windows Live Mail, it becomes your default Mail Client and
"imports" your Outlook Express data automatically.

Furthermore, it removes (not uninstalls) Outlook Express.

1. Enable "Show Hidden Files and Folders" =>
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tuto...utorial62.html

2. Open a Windows Explorer search window (WinKey+E) and run a search for
"*.dbx" (w/out the quotes). If you find any, in what folder(s) are they
located?

3. If OE isn't available: Add/Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows
Components > Make sure "Outlook Express" is checked.

You can drag or copy/paste or cut/paste EML files into an open OE folder.

From http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/defaultl.htm

Go to Start | Run and type this command, with the double quotes and spaces:

"C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /reg

and then make sure that OE is selected as the default mail program in both
IE and OE.

If that isn't enough, see this article:
"Send To" and E-mail Links Do Not Work Using Outlook Express as Default:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=306098

You might also want to try this:

Restores OE to the E-mail clients list in Internet Options
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/oe_client.htm

To set Outlook as the default mail client,- Go to Start, Run - Type in the
following with quotation marks and press OK
"C:\program files\microsoft office\office\outlook.exe" /checkclient
For more information on Outlook see:
