Backup Error

Windows XP Pro with SP2 and all updates applied. The from computer received
a new C: hard drive about the time this started.

When I attempt a backup from the #2 computer with new hard drive to the 2nd
hard drive on the #1 computer, as I have done for years, I receive this
error after a few minutes of processing, the backup process stops with this:

Drive Error: The device reported an error on a request to write data to
media.

Error reported: Unknown Error.

There may be a hardware or media problem.

Please check the system event log for relavant failures.

This is one of the entries from the Event Properties for an applicable
event:

{Delayed Write Failed} Windows was unable to save all the data for the file

\Device\LanmanRedirector. The data has been lost. This error may be caused
by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to
save this file elsewhere.

Re: Backup Error

Problem solved. In spite of the fact that I continually recommend folks not
use registry cleaners, I realized that all problems stemmed from the time
that the c: drive was replaced. The Maxtor program that copied the contents
of the old and restored to the new screwed up 632 registry entries. I let it
Registry First Aid repair all.

Thanks to all that took the time to read this.

Well; what did you find in the System Log for starters? Or did you ignore
that recommendation?

I believe that my original post included the information (or lack thereof)
in the Event Properties
