Hi,

this question seems to be very strange, especially when it comes
form a developer, but i have to ask this here. Today i encountered
a very strange thing the first time on my system and before i will go
too far and say that my notebooks hardware is about to pass i want
to ask this here whether this is some sort of key combination that
makes the os behave like that. Scenario: While typing, my windows
xp's (pro) Desktop didnt respond and the LCD from my notebook
looses its brightness and the keyboard and mouse do not respond
anymore. You can see everything right clear on the desktop, still
working, but no user input is passed to the desktop anylonger. It
looks exactly like the UAC Desktop on Vista: You can see everything
running there but it is darker and less bright, like grayed, as said
like the UAC from Vista.

Due to the fact that i reall do write very fast, i cant remember my
last keycombination. Beleive me, i did a "backtrack" in my brain
but i couldnt figure out what i've pressed. I cant remember that
i have some sort of function (FN) key combination that goes this
way. So i am really suprised when i got this the first time four
hours ago,...and the second time 20 minutes ago. There is no
other way except in rebooting the system with reset key.

I did not install any software and my system does not have new
hardware or nothing new. This is the first time i got this n three years
of working on this notebook. What could cause this s***?


Is this something inside my windows xp, some hidden command,
key combination or whatever? Now i remember that i had the
same situation 6 months ago on a Server 2008 running on my
system (dual boot) but i thought this is some bug inside the
beta, because it was a server 2008 beta build,....

I know that this question sounds very strange, especially if
you are develping every day in your life on windows, but
i am really a litte confused!
