| RE: New hard drive install If both systems are XP, then you should be able to use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard. This won't transfer your programs, though. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...ovember12.mspx The other option, instead of reinstalling would have been to transfer the partition with Ghost or Drive Image. |

| Re: New hard drive install You should probably look into using the "clone disk" software provided with many hard drives manufactured today. If it isn't with the drive, visit the drive manufacturers web site and get a copy. It's designed make to move from one HD to another larger one relatively painless. edsheats wrote: > The Hard drives are on the same computer and I would like to transfer from > The old to the new without doing individually. > Thanks > Again |

| Re: New hard drive install You are so lucky its a Maxtor. Go to the Maxtor.com and download (it should have come with the drive) "Maxblast." Just put your new drive in as a slave and MaxBlast will format it and do a drive copy and make your new drive the boot drive. Then you have to shut down your machine and put your new drive (change jumper to Primary install and reboot. The instructions on how to do this are in detail on the Maxtor site. It is so easy you'll want to keep a spare Maxtor drive around because to work there has to be atleast one Maxtor drive on the system. Go for it Walrus PS hope you have broadband connection, its a 200+ MB download! -- Youth is fleeting,Fame never lasts. Money slips through our fingers like water. But, Ah, "imagination last a life time." And its cheaper! :-) "Bob I" wrote: > You should probably look into using the "clone disk" software provided > with many hard drives manufactured today.
