Is there anyway to edit the NTUSER.DAT file to correct a problem with drive
shares? Here is the problem - my department has set up a Terastation drive.
If you setup the share in My Computer then go in to Network places and setup
the same share there, XP gets confused and won't let you access through
either. If you delete and try to reconfigure the share, XP can't find it.
The only way is to delete the user profile and have the user relog in as new.
As long as either share is configured, all is fine. Is there anyway to edit
the file so that the share can be seen instead of deleting the file and all
the bookmarks, settings, etc??

if you cannot "see" the shared resource , it is more likely a misconfigured
XP or 3rd party firewall .

if you "edit" the NTUSER.DAT file ...it is highly likely you would have to
re-install XP or at least create a new user.

The 'share' is inside the corporate firewall. The firewall on all computers
inside the main firewall is turned off. One other computer at this location
is configured correctly but another here cannot access it on my login.
However - another user can access it. I will post the same message on the
group you suggested.
