| Windows Genuine Advantage error in Internet Explorer 7 I just re-installed Windows XP Pro on my computer today and when I try to download Windows Defender, the WGA validation checker gives me an error in my Internet Explorer and causes it to close. After installing XP, I downloaded SP2 and all the other critial updates as well as a few optional. When I try to download Windows Defender from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...en&mg_id=10134 , I click on continue to begin Windows validation, the following error pops up: Internet Explorer has encountered and problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost. Please tell Microsoft about this problem. We have created an error report that you can send to help us improve Internet Explorer. We will treat this report as confidential and anonymous. To see what data this error report contains, click here. The following information is displayed: Error signature AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 7.0.6000.16544 ModName: unknown ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00ad01f1 I chose to send the error report. After browsing through the forums, I ran the MGA Diagnostic tool from http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 and here is the information I received: Diagnostic Report (1.7.0066.0): ----------------------------------------- WGA Data--> Validation Status: Genuine Validation Code: 0 Online Validation Code: N/A Cached Validation Code: N/A Windows Product Key: *****-*****-XKJMG-7KHVG-8VJ8J Windows Product Key Hash: o0FbEqp+Afh5Knp8eFJ23a0PL8M= Windows Product ID: 55274-640-0304115-23018 Windows Product ID Type: 1 Windows License Type: Volume Windows OS version: 5.1.2600.2.00010100.2.0.pro CSVLK Server: N/A CSVLK PID: N/A ID: {9542260F-C16F-4712-864C-C4A7CFA0F3BE}(3) Is Admin: Yes TestCab: 0x0 WGA Version: Registered, 1.7.59.1 Signed By: Microsoft Product Name: N/A Architecture: N/A Build lab: N/A TTS Error: N/A Validation Diagnostic: 025D1FF3-171-1 Resolution Status: N/A Notifications Data--> Cached Result: N/A File Exists: No Version: N/A, hr = 0x80070002 WgaTray.exe Signed By: N/A, hr = 0x80070002 WgaLogon.dll Signed By: N/A, hr = 0x80070002 OGA Data--> Office Status: 109 N/A OGA Version: N/A, 0x80070002 Signed By: N/A, hr = 0x80070002 Office Diagnostics: FCEE394C-2989-80070002_B4D0AA8B-470-80070002 Browser Data--> Proxy settings: N/A User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Win32) Default Browser: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.exe Download signed ActiveX controls: Prompt Download unsigned ActiveX controls: Disabled Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins: Allowed Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe: Disabled Allow scripting of Internet Explorer Webbrowser control: Disabled Active scripting: Allowed Script ActiveX controls marked as safe for scripting: Allowed File Scan Data--> Other data--> Office Details: <GenuineResults><MachineData><UGUID>{9542260F-C16F-4712-864C-C4A7CFA0F3BE}</UGUID><Version>1.7.0066.0</Version><OS>5.1.2600.2.00010100.2.0.pro</OS><Architecture>x32</Architecture><PKey>*****-*****-*****-*****-8VJ8J</PKey><PID>55274-640-0304115-23018</PID><PIDType>1</PIDType><SID>S-1-5-21-1292428093-1364589140-682003330</SID><SYSTEM><Manufacturer>Dell Inc. </Manufacturer><Model>Dell DM051 </Model></SYSTEM><BIOS><Manufacturer>Dell Inc. </Manufacturer><Version>A00</Version><SMBIOSVersion major="2" minor="3"/><Date>20050815000000.000000+000</Date></BIOS><HWID>DD573B7F0184E05C</HWID><UserLCID>0409</UserLCID><SystemLCID>0409</SystemLCID><TimeZone>Central Standard Time(GMT-06:00)</TimeZone><iJoin>0</iJoin><SBID><stat>3</stat><msppid></msppid><name></name><model></model></SBID><OEM/><BRT/></MachineData> <Software><Office><Result>109</Result><Products/></Office></Software></GenuineResults> I'd really like to install Windows Defender, can anyone help? |
