When I go into Control Panel then Folder Options one of the tabs at the
top of that screen should be "View" but that tab is now missing on at
least three of my PCs.

I know the View tab used to be there because I've used it but it's gone
now. Since this has happened on at least three of my PCs I assume it's
not an isolated fluke but rather something I caused. But I have no idea
what I may have done or how it happened. No luck so far searching on
Google.

I'm running WinXP Pro SP2 with the latest updates. I have no idea how
long ago this problem started.

Any clues appreciated.

Apropos of nearly nothing, I suspect you have some malware lurking on your
computers - that's the only time I've seen that tab disappear, although
there were other sysmptoms at the time. Can't remember the name of any of
the baddies, but you might run some scans with current versions of
Spybot/AdAware etc - and see what you find. If you do find anything
untoward, try posting in microsoft.public.security.homeusers.

I found nothing bad using SpyBot, AdAware or Norton AV.

A long shot ... but is there anything in TweakUI that could make this
happen?

There's a tweak to restore an empty Folder View, but I don't know if
it'll restore the tab. Let us know.
