| XP fails to open fully Hi. Am running XP Home Edition Sp2. Recently it's started to misbehave on startup. It will get as far as displaying by desktop wallpaper, but goes no further. I can get the task manager up and restart and it will then come up ok and work fine. Last couple of days though, it's taken 2 or 3 restarts to get going, and I'm worried that the time is coming where it won't start up at all. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. TIA. Gordon |

| Re: XP fails to open fully Hi Gordon, If this just started in the last couple of days, then try running System Restore and restoring to a point before it started. How to use System Restore: http://bertk.mvps.org/ -- Regards, Bert Kinney MS-MVP Shell/User http://bertk.mvps.org Member: http://dts-l.org "G.Welsh" wrote > Hi. Am running XP Home Edition Sp2. | Re: XP fails to open fully Hi, thanks for the reply. It's been happening on and off for a fair while now, only now becoming more frequent. Thought the restore might be worth a try so went back to when i knew it hadn't happened yet, but the restore did not complete. Then had to redo all my updates, and now have one MS update that keeps failing, MSXML 4.0 SP2 Security Update (925672)....oh and the original problem is still there :( "Bert Kinney" wrote: > Hi Gordon, > > If this just started in the last couple of days, then try running System Restore > and restoring to a point before it started. > > How to use System Restore: > http://bertk.mvps.org/ > > -- > Regards, > Bert Kinney MS-MVP Shell/User > http://bertk.mvps.org > Member: http://dts-l.org > > "G.Welsh" wrote > > Hi.
