Setting drag-and-drop folder behavior in Windows Explorer

Windows XP question re: Windows Explorer (NOT Internet Explorer).

When I drag a file to a folder in Windows Explorer, the folder opens
after about 1 second, showing all the sub-folders. I would like to
know:

1. How to change to timing (say to 3 or 4 seconds from the current
approximately 1 second)

2. How to turn this off altogether, so the folder does not
automatically open.

Thanks in advance for all replies.

Steve

Sounds like the kind of thing that may need a registry hack to change the
duration.

Have you considered CTRL + X, (cut) or CTRL + C, (copy), then CTRL + V,
(paste) as an alternative method of moving files.

I'm not a huge fan of drag and drop through a directory tree, as it's too
easy to misplace files, or even accidentally move a directory to a
neighbouring directory without realising.
