Burning a DVD to span whole disc

Hi,

At the outset I apologize if I am posting to the wrong group.

I would like to know how to enable the burning of a DVD (either data or
video files) to span the whole of the disc and not just the visible burn
area when the total file size amounts to less than disc capacity.

Will the inclusion of dummy files (to fill the slack) impair DVD movie
playback? Or data disc readability?

Thanks very much in anticipation.

JP

Re: Burning a DVD to span whole disc

Why? The fact the burned info doesn't fill the disk is not an error/problem
in and of itself.

You could try with a re-writeable disk as a test. I can't see that it would
hurt a DVD video disk, as the machine would have no need to look at the
"blank" space or dummy files, (assuming they didn't have the same name as
some system file that may be accessed).

Depends on the application you are using to write the disks as well.

You do realise once the disk is closed it can't be written to again,
regardless of space available?

Your probably better off asking in a DVD authoring forum, and maybe stating
exactly what you are trying to achieve.
