XP Pro on Toshiba Tecra - secondary hard drive not detected

I bought a used Toshiba Tecra 9100 to replace my broken laptop. I installed
XP Professional from my original disk. XP does not detect the second hard
drive, even though it shows as the secondary drive in BIOS.

(I have the Toshiba OEM disks with XP Professional, but installation
attempts fail asking for my XP Service Pack 1 disk. I downloaded XP SP-1
from Microsoft, but the Toshiba installation expects a file called
'\I386\msas', which is the name of a folder on the download.)

Re: XP Pro on Toshiba Tecra - secondary hard drive not detected

Probably needs proprietary driver from Toshiba
for drive controller chipset.

Check Device Manager for what it THINKS you have and
compare it to what you KNOW you have.

Also use Disk Manager to see if it "sees" the sec. HD.

If it does, then it's not formatted/partitioned in a way that
XP can use and you'll need to do so.

Your original disk? Is it a Retail version? Do you have the correct
drivers for the Tecra? You may want to double check the Toshiba OEM CD
is for the Tecra. And check with Toshiba tech support.
