Internet connection icons missing from taskbar

The twin "monitor screen" icons no longer appear in my taskbar. KB articles
I have found don't seem to apply to this particular icon. I did a 'restore'
but that didn't cure the problem. To clarify, these are the two small blue
screens that turn on and off as communication proceeds to and from the
internet. XP Home, cable connection. Suggestions appreciated. TIA, Dick

Look in control panel, network connections, under properties make sure the
box is checked for show icon in notification area when connected

"Unfortunately" the box to "show icon" is checked. Any other things I
should do or check?

I thought that icon was only used by dial-up connections.

Re: Internet connection icons missing from taskbar

The icon works with both cable and dial up. I ran a repair program found
from a previous response and it showed back up again this morning just as it
should. Many thanks for the replies and assistance. Dick

RE: Internet connection icons missing from taskbar

I don't get "properties" when I go 'control panel - network connections'. I
have XP SP2.
