Troubleshooting

Hi,

I have a Dell dimension 4550 with Windows Xp home edition. Until just
recently, I have been able to troubleshoot any problems on my pc. But now
when I click on 'start' then 'help and support' to do a troubleshoot of any
kind, online or offline, I get the following message:

The page you are trying to view cannot be displayed. This may be because:
If you are trying to view this content over the network, there may be
network congestion or a problem with your connection.
There might be an error in the page's address.
The page might not be available.
Please check your network connection or try another page.

Can anyone tell me how to remedy this? I have not added any new hardware,
and the only updates installed are the ones from Microsoft. The computer is
about 4 years old. I have contacted Microsoft and Dell with no results. I
have checked for any driver updates that may help. Any help would be
appreciated. Also, if I have posted this in the wrong forum, I apologize.

Thank you,
Randy

This is the first thing you should try - as sites subtly alter their
URL's form time to time:

Using the quotation marks, put in to Google the words that best describe
the page you want, such as:

"dellsupport.com"

Or whatever the words would be in your case. Without too much
difficulty, you should be able to find the page your link used to lead
to. Bookmark that page.

Re: Troubleshooting

MowGreen,
Thanks for replying. I have System Mechanic 5, and I have used the
registry cleaner with sys. mech. 5. Not sure when the last time I used it,
however.

Re: Troubleshooting

First check the backups created by SysMechanic and see if there's one
dated around the time this issue first appeared.
If that doesn't resolve the issue, then suggest you attempt to reinstall
