Can you control what XP adds to the "recent documents" and "recent folders" lists?

I'm using filebox extender, and it is putting too much stuff in the
list of recent folders. The author told me his doesn't do that, and to
see if there is a parameter in WindowsXP that will let me stop if from
adding folders to the menu each time I start an application.

Can I control what gets put in the recent folders.

By the way, History has never worked for me.

Thanks
Sarah

Re: Can you control what XP adds to the "recent documents" and "recent folders" lists?

Right-click the Start button, click Properties on the menu that appears, click the
Start Menu tab, click Customize button.

On the General tab, set the "Number of programs on Start menu" to 0, and click the
Clear List button.

Click the Advanced tab.

If you don't want recently opened documents to appear, uncheck the box for "List my
most recently opened documents", click the Clear List button, then click OK, and
click OK again to exit.
