Switching Projector Display and LCD Display to Single Display onLaptop

I have new Gateway MX6453 laptop with XP Media. When I connect my Epson
Powerlite S3 projector to it. The laptop LCD display and the projected image
of the desktop and WMP video image are exact in every detail except no video
appears on the projected image. WMP is there, but no moving video.

A tech a Best Buy thinks I can get around it by using one display or the
other, but not both. I looked at the XP Display icon for the ATI video card,
but it's almost impossible to see how to use it. Are there instructions
somewhere on how to reduce the desktop image to only one of the two devices?

RE: Switching Projector Display and LCD Display to Single Display on L

Hi W

I have the same problem with our laptops (HP nx9005, NX9010) and the only
way we can get round it is to switch completely to the projector output
rather than both.
I'll keep an eye on your post though incase anyone comes up with a solution
as this confuses our users.

Cheers
ChrisP

Re: Switching Projector Display and LCD Display to Single Displayon L

Yes, that'll likely do it in my case too. When I tried the ATI based Display
icon on the Control Panel, I had no idea how to use it. I'm used to dealing
with single monitors (SVGA). It showed two display icons, one labeled 1 and
the other 2. The little pulldown menu didn't seem to distinguish between the
two monitors (projector and LCD).

In the hope that the latest video drivers for the laptop would work, I
downloaded them, an exe file, onto my desktop. When I ran it, it seemed to
finish a bit too quickly for a 74M download. Upon bringing up the combo
again, the projector showed nothing on the screen. After looking at the
Display again, there was only one choice, as I understood it.

I'm not convinced there was a complete install. Well, maybe the
System->Device Drivers will tell me.
