| Floppy drive "My computer" does not recognize my floppy drive and very frequently the following message comes up " no disk in Drive-retry -- continue -- cancel". And if I insert a floppy into the drive it does not work. However, if I create a shortcut on my desktop to the floppy drive, then I can get it to work when I insert a floppy disc. So, obviously, the problem is not in the drive itself or in its connections, but rather in that Windows XP doesn't recognize it for some reason. Any suggestions? |

| Re: Floppy drive That is a rather odd type of bug. Never heard of it before. But as long as the shortcut works you're ok until finding a proper ans. I've always had problems with floppies under XP (all my installations of XP). As mention'd whatever works, I find working on floppies thru the CMD faster and less prone to problems -- http://jesuspan.com/ |

| Re: Floppy drive In news:5D23A2E7-9CE1-414B-8042-357CE130A717@microsoft.com, Julsie had this to say: My reply is at the bottom of your sent message: > "My computer" does not recognize my floppy drive and very frequently > the following message comes up " no disk in Drive-retry -- continue > -- cancel". Enter your setup (pre-boot) to CMOS and adjust the floppy's settings to DISABLE three-mode support. Use just the 1.44 setting.
