| bach convert doc files to text format files(eg.xml or html) and viceversa. I have to do some search and replace jobs for bunch of doc files. I have a idea to do the jobs in a handy way. Convert them to text formats and do the search and repalce jobs and convert back to the doc formats. As I know Word doesn't support the batch converting job, is there a utility or something for batch converting? TIA |

I see a problem right away. When you convert from doc to text you lose whatever formatting you specified in the doc. When you convert back from text to doc, there's no way to recover that information. >As I know Word doesn't support the batch converting job, is there a >utility or something for batch converting? I would investigate Word's support for VBA (Visual Basic for Applications). You should be able to write something to perform your task in that language, and run it right inside Word. -- Tim Slattery MS MVP(DTS) Slattery_T@bls.gov http://members.cox.net/slatteryt |

| Re: bach convert doc files to text format files(eg.xml or html) andvice versa. You could likely do it with a combination of batch/script and a Macro. Take a look at "AutoIT" as a possible solution. I've used it to do multiple search and replace in .PDF files. http://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/ kang wrote: > I have to do some search and replace jobs for bunch of doc files. > I have a idea to do the jobs in a handy way. > Convert them to text formats and do the search and repalce jobs and > convert back to the doc formats. > > As I know Word doesn't support the batch converting job, is there a > utility or something for batch converting? > > TIA |

Among the first few are several programs that will do the job. Here's a free one: http://www.dirfile.com/multiple_file...nd_replace.htm |
