A way to stop the clock from synching with a time server (domain P

Hello everyone.

So my boss has Windows XP Pro on his laptop. He is connected to a domain
and thus his clock gets synchronized with a time server. However, he wants to
change the time on his clock to match the time on his watch. I know it would
be easier to set his watch to the time of this laptop but hey... he is my
boss and that's what he wants! :)

Is there a way to prevent his laptop from checking with the time server and
simply stick with the time he designates?

This is used in Windows 2000, and should work in XP....try it and let us know:

Open the Registry Editor and navigate to this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\W32Time\Parameters

Modify the data for the value named "Type", by double-clicking the value named
"Type", and type in:
NoSync
for the value data, then click OK, close Regedit, and reboot.

-----------------------
Windows Time
Maintains date and time synchronization on all clients and servers in the
network. If this service is stopped, date and time synchronization will be
unavailable. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly
depend on it will fail to start.

Start\Run type services.msc \ Windows Time \ Double click \ Select Disable

I tried the registery key change and that seems to have worked.

Thanks for the additional information. I did the registery change and it
fixed the problem. However, looking at the service you mention it looks like
it would be possible to do it this way as well.

Once again, thanks!
