| Problem copying local profile to domain profile. I'm helping a laptop user log into our domain (MAIL - don't laugh I didn't come up with the name) because he has been using a local profile and not properly logging for a few months. I helped him log in and rebooted the computer then logged in with our local admin account on the laptop and tried to migrate his profile over from c:\documents and settings\username to username.mail I'm copying about 2.5 gig of data from the local username to username.mail profile. I get an error on the username.mail profile that is stopping at a word document. I log back in with the user's account and cannot find this document. This error stops the copy process from local profile to domain profile. I also looked in the registry and deleted one entry but the copy process still stops after 2-3 attempts. I even deleted the username.mail profile again and recreated it. Is there any way to fix this? |

Is there any way to fix this? Reboot clean - log in with the user's local account and use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard to export the users profile (pretend this is the old machine - store the profile on the machine.) Reboot clean, log in as the users domain account (It would be best if it was a clean/fresh/new account...) and then use the Files and Settings Transfer wizard to import the profile which you saved above. (Pretend this is the new machine.) -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html |
