I have a XP PRO machine with a strange printer problem, installed a
new HP multifunction printer via USB then about 2 months later it
refused to print, yet you could print from another machine to the
printer through shared printing.

Tried reinstall of drivers, no good, then restarted spooler service -
fixed! the spooler was running already & had no errors came up, also
when you bring up the print que it shows no jobs from the pc it is
installed on, yet when another pc shares it you see the job go through
normaly

Restarting machine does not help, you have to restart spooler
manually! the problem presented itself on & off over the next few
weeks with no pattern, I did a regclean with MS regclean, then another
using Freeregistrycleaner, still no good

Gave up & switched the user over to a network Laser printer next to
the other printer, all ok for another few weeks, now it is back to
playing up again

Anybody got any ideas? I am almost ready to format & start again
