| WinXP/Hardware Problem? Ok...I downloaded a program called Stellarium v0.8.2 (http://www.stellarium.net) and it doesn't seem to work on my system. Now, initially one would guess it is a application problem, but i don't think so. It works just fine on my other windows machines. Here's the info on hardware and software...I'm noping somebody can point me in the right direction to slove this issue if it is in fact a system issue. Doesn’t work: Program: Stellarium v0.8.2 Hardware and Software Biostar M7NCG-400 AMD Sempron 3300 CPU 1 GB DDR3200 RAM GeForce4 MX Integrated Graphics 32 MB Scanport GS 1821A Flat Screen Monitor 1268 x 1024 nVidia ForceWare 91.47 Windows XP Home SP2 NOTES: I do not get ‘splash screen’ (moon over forested hills) on start up but I do get loading bar. I do not get navigation and configuration buttons at the bottom of the screen, but do get little squares where the buttons should be, nor do i get any text. I do not get any configuration screens or background pictures. WORKS ON THE FOLLOWING COMPUTERS: Program: Stellarium v0.8.2 Hardware and Software HP Pavilion 511n Intel Celeron 1.3 GHz CPU 512 MB RAM PC133 ATI 9200 SE 128 MB PCI Graphics Card 17 HP CRT Monitor 1024 x 768 ATI Catalyst Software Windows XP Home SP2 NOTES: Seems to work just fine Compaq Presario 12XL400 Intel Celeron 700 MHz CPU 188 MB RAM Trident CyberBlade i1 4MB Standard Passive Laptop display 800 x 600 Windows XP Home SP2 NOTES: As expected, extremely slow and not conducive to 800 x 600 screen, but it does work. Any ideas why it doesn’t work on my ‘good’ computer……any suggestions would be appreciated….Dave |

| Re: WinXP/Hardware Problem? Some tips here from the Stellarium FAQ http://www.stellarium.org/wiki/index...t_does_not_run. http://www.stellarium.org/ "We can offer some accounts of what people experienced in the past. Firstly, it is possible your computer refuses to run Stellarium because the resolution in the config.ini file is wrong. Set it to your native resolution and see if that helps. Secondly, maybe a file necessary for Stellarium was corrupted or badly formatted in some way. Try reinstalling, don't forget to backup any Stellarium files you might have customized. Thirdly, Stellarium reports basic actions in a text output file, named stdout.txt, which is in the program directory. If you are running Stellarium on a computer where you don't have the right user privileges to do that, Stellarium refuses to run. Lastly, stdout.txt and also stderr.txt might offer some insight into what goes on when Stellarium exhibits problems." -- Jon What can't be cured must be endured It may be of interest to note that "dre1x" <dre1x@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:56018737-5648-4FB8-ADAD-8EDCC6555ADF@microsoft.com... > Ok...I downloaded a program called Stellarium v0.8.2 > (http://www.stellarium.net) and it doesn't seem to work on my system. > Now, > initially one would guess it is a application problem, but i don't think > so. > It works just fine on my other windows machines.
