Re: OPERATING SYSTEMS??

Excuse me again for not knowing the "proper" jargon. May be I'll think
twice before asking for help here again..........I came here looking for
assistance, not for insults or condemnation.

I think you need to be less thin-skinned but I can see why you were
unpleasantly surprised. I'll give you information about Usenet (these
newsgroups) and how best to access them (and what to include in a post)
but I'd like to suggest a really good web forum owned by MVP Patty
McDuffie. It is www.computerhaven.info and it is just for people like
you. All the people there are very kind and caring and want to help you.
Give it a try.

Here's my standard boilerplate about newsgroups:

Since you are using the web interface, you may not realize that this is
really a newsgroup. You will get far more out of this resource if you
learn to use a newsreader. There are many good newsreaders for Windows,
but you can use Outlook Express (XP) or Windows Mail (Vista) since you
already have it. Here are some links to information about newsgroups:

Re: OPERATING SYSTEMS??

Malke, thank you for the information. I will keep it for future reference.
It is nice to know there are people out there willing to help us who are
not-so-computer savy. I just want to know the right way to do things so I
can educate myself, even if it is asking what some people believe are stupid
questions. You don't know unless you ask. Thanks again.

Also, look for "CapsLock for Dummies".

Re: OPERATING SYSTEMS??

There are some who enjoy making fun of the newbys, makes themselves feel
bigger, Try not to let those flapping gums deter you from seeking help.
and I also agree, it's best to not have a thin skin around here.
