Desktop icon title text: how/where to adjust font & color?

--XP Pro on a PC, using "Contemporary" and not "Classic" display mode.

Neither "Font" nor "Display" in Control Panel shows how to change the icons
title text color or font style.

I need an unshadowed, solid font instead of the existing hard-to-read
outlined & shadowed font.

Right-click the Desktop > "Properties" > "Appearance" tab > click the
"Effects" button. This dialog allows you to change the font smoothing, and
shadowing. Click OK. Next, (back at the appearance page) click "Advanced"
button. In the "Item" dropdown list select "Icon" then change your font to
what you want.

You may have to play with the settings to get the desired effects. When you
like the settings you have, select the "Themes" tab on the Display
Properties dialog and click the "Save As" button to save it as a custom
theme.

Mark

Thanks for the procedures. Some of the "Item" features allow for text color
change but, oddly, not for the icon text... or did I miss something?
