I put together a new computer today and every thing works
except windows update. When I try to update , then Windows presents me
with updating version 3.1 of the Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1.

It just wont update. I get a message, "The follwoing updates
were not installed" there are no error codes.

I see some others have posted similar questions and been
refered to the WindowsUpdate newsgroup. That group for some reason
isn't available on my newsserver.

For Microsoft newsgroups, try this server: msnews.microsoft.com (no username
or password required.)
