Xp memory error

Not sure where to post this

windows xp pro, sp2, p4-3ghz, 1gb ram

occasionally, all running applications will appear as minimized windows on
the desktop. this includes windows system services. user programs open are
outlook, msaccess, and ie6. in this particular case, the user went to open
a Word docuement and about 25 minimized windows popped into the taskbar and
onto the desktop.

i restarted explorer, didnt fix - had to log out user and relog on.

any ideas?
thanks

james

RE: Xp memory error

If memory is the problem(s),1st try unplug power, remove memory cards, clean
plug-in connectors on the memory cards,an eraser works ok,switch the cards
around,start pc.If problems still exist,go
to:http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp
Download and install microsofts memory tester to a MS-DOS formatted floppy,
boot to floppy, run the tests..I believe it works off a cd also....
