When trying to install my scanner software from the original CD on a new
computer with Windows XP, I get the error message "The reference (handle) is
invalid". (This is my translation from Swewdish, where the message is
"Referensen (handle) är felaktig".)

I guess this might have something to do with the CD, but what does this
error message mean? And how can I remedy it?

Since this message is generated by the software most likely, you may want
to search the manufacturer's website for a software update and/or contact
the technical support.

Well, the interesting thing is that it was only the setup.exe on the CD that
generated this error message. The rest of the installation files worked OK,
so I was finally able to do the installation correctly, after all.
