All i see is my wallpaper... (Please Help)

I have a problem which I hope someone can help me with,
Starting up my computer today i logged into my user name and quickly noticed
that nothing was showing up...
All I saw was my wallpaper, that means I have no icons or even the bar on
the bottom of my screen. :(
I'm not all knowing in computers or its software especially but i believe
that my files still exist as i tried to run some of them but with no luck
they didn't appear to open...

Wondering What can be done, Yours truly
~Me~

RE: All i see is my wallpaper... (Please Help)

Explorer might be not be in the 'Startup' registry key.

On your keyboard, hold down the CTRL+ALT+DEL keys at the same time. This
should launch the task manager.

On the "Processes" tab, do you see the "Explorer.exe" program?

If not, go back to Applications tab, click on 'New Task...' and type in
"Explorer.exe".
This launches Windows on the computer.

P.S What OS do you have and do you use antivirus and antispyware programs?

RE: All i see is my wallpaper... (Please Help)

OK i finally tried it and unfortunately it didn't help...
I can manage to type it into the run, and what not but it still wont run it.
Seems no other applications are running and well.. when i do try to run
explorer it gives me a blink from where my bar use to be but no luck
When i try to browse I can see my files but still unable to open them.
(Now i'm just waiting for that big blue screen of death...)

Then I would say at this point that a reinstall of the operating
system would be in order.

Re: All i see is my wallpaper... (Please Help)

Tell us what you have in the way of a system and how the Operating System
was placed on the hard drive originally.
If you have a system where the manufacturer installed the OS you need to
look in their manual for a "recovery" option....most "recovery" options set
the HD back to when 1st purchasd so before you do this you should save all
of your personal files to a CD/DVD.
If you have a "retail" purchased XP CD then you can do a "repair"
install. This will save all of your settings and files but put the OS back to
when you first installed it.All updates installed since then would need to
be reinstalled. It is still best to save your personal stuff...just in case.
here is a website that explains a Repair Installation..

Michael Stevens' site would be an excellent place to visit for XP
issues and reinstillation (clean install):

http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html

Be warned that if you peruse the information on this site (all the
ifs, and, & buts), you will have an afternoons reading ahead of you!

RE: All i see is my wallpaper... (Please Help)

I mean Explorer.exe - not IEXPLORER.exe.

Here's the difference:
Explorer.exe is Windows XP

Where as Iexplore.exe is Internet Explorer
