| Software will not install, at all! I am running Win XP with SP2. When attempting to install new software, (including Office 2007, and Nero 7) I get a warning that the administrator policies do not allow software installation. I have gone into Local and group security policies and the default security level is set to Unrestricted. Still after numerous reboots I cannot install any new software. I have checked the DVD and it is functioning properly. |

Make sure you reboot. Try again. Can you install anything from a downloaded executable? If yes... can you install anything from a CD? If no, then is the CD showing up in My Computer? The solution was, replace the DVD, which at first did not solve the problem. The second part of the solution grew from growing frustration. I used another IDE cable, and that WAS the solution. The origninal DVD drive may have been good. The culprit all along might have been the original IDE cable. Part of solving the problem was that the Device manager dialogue box stated the DVD was operating properly. Attempt to install software from a CD or DVD always ended with a message that in so many words would state "the administrator had denied access ..." and so forth. Lesson learned. Check everything, including the cables and connections. Thank for everyone's advice! ! :-) |
