| A missing Hibernate Power option tab Dell Inspiron 4150 Windows xp Home SP2 This has been recurring I keep losing the power option tab for enabling "Hibernate" Can someone supply a reg key fix so I can reuse it if this happens again? More importantly, does anyone know why this keeps happening? Seems like it started after the previous security update. Anyone else having this problem as of recently? Thanks |

| Re: A missing Hibernate Power option tab Right click on the Desktop and select Properties, on the Display properties window click on Screen saver then on Power Button. On the Power options Properties click on Hibernate Tab. Hibernate: [ ] Enable Hibernation < Select this check box. Click on Advanced tab on the same window and make this changes: Power buttons: When I close the Lid of my Portable Computer: [ Hibernate ][v] When I press the power button on My Computer: [ Hibernate ][v] Click [OK] Reboot your machine and try Start >> Turn Off Computer , does this help?. Did you find the Key in the registry and change it to: [-]HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Win dows\System\Shutdown [ON]ShowHibernationButton REG_ DWORD 0x00000001(1) "WindowsXP-he" wrote: > Unfortunately nothing here works. > > "nass" <nass@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:79D62ACB-B0F5-4E2E-B9BC-7DD1D7072D28@microsoft.com... > > > > > > "WindowsXP-he" wrote: > > > >> Dell Inspiron 4150 Windows xp Home SP2 > >> > >> This has been recurring > >> > >> I keep losing the power option tab for enabling "Hibernate" > >> > >> Can someone supply a reg key fix so I can reuse it if this happens again? > >> > >> More importantly, does anyone know why this keeps happening? | Re: A missing Hibernate Power option tab Thanks Kelly... Reading through MS Knowledgebase Pages I realized... Hibernation is temporarily suspended if there are any updates requiring a reboot. Duh! Hard to belive I made so many fix attempts without REBOOTING. | Re: A missing Hibernate Power option tab I had the same issue. I have re-started and re-installed windowsXP on my Dell Inspiron 1000 and after that, the Hibernate tab was gone from the Power Options dialog. What really fixed the problem was the installation video driver and audio driver from the Dell's CD originally provided with the laptop. It took me some time to figure out that video may have to do anything with the ACPI and hibernate. |
