Desk Top

A friend has accidentally put a photo on to her desktop. It came from a
program that she has called Picasa. How do we get rid of this from her
desktop?

Thanks

Picasa is an image management program that is from Google. It is quite
good. To change the picture on her Desktop, she should right-click on an
empty area of the Desktop. On the little menu that appears, she should
left-click on Properties. This will open the Display applet. You can
also get to the Display applet by going to Control Panel.

Once in the Display applet, you will see where you can change the
Desktop picture.

RE: Desk Top

Thanks for your help. Once in Control Panel and Displays, I see her unwanted
photo displayed among the list shown.

But from there, how do I delete the photo?

Thanks

Windows XP fetches image files from the following paths:

BMP Files from C:\WINDOWS

BMP, JPG, GIF, JPE, DIB, PNG, HTM files from the following locations:

C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper
C:\Documents and Settings\<USER NAME>\My Documents\My Pictures [& ALL
THE SUB-FOLDERS]
C:\Documents and Settings\<USER NAME>\Application
Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
C:\Program Files\Plus!\Themes [*** & ALL THE SUB-FOLDERS ***]

Your friend probably has the picture in her My Pictures folder. Move the
picture from My Pictures to another location in her My Documents folder
and it will no longer appear in the list for Desktop backgrounds in the
Display applet. She can make a new folder in My Documents called
"photos" or "pictures" or the like if she wants.

You select a different background there. To delete the photo, locate it
and delete from Explorer. Or you can use Windows Search. Looking in
the Backgrounds available. See the name of the current background, and
search by that name.

Now it's possible that she'll have to run Picasa and make a change there
if its software is locking out other background changes. You might go
to the Picasa support pages and or use Picasa Help to see how to remove
its background.

http://picasa.google.com/support/bin...d&topic=&type=

The above link suggests she might have an option under the "Create"
menu, next the "File".
