How to Limit the amount of memory used

I have 1Gb of physical memory. I want to keep tghe 1Gb physically installed
and then limit the amount of memory available to Photoshop version 3 which
ran just fine with no more than 256Mb of physical memory in XP, W98 and W95..
When I start Photoshop 3 now the error message says there's no enough memory
available to run Photoshop 3.
I have set it to run in Compatibility Mode for W95, and that doesn't help at
all.
Is there a setting I can use to reduce the amount of memory to 256Mb when I
run Photoshop 3 ? ( I can not afford to upgrade it.)
THANKS !

Re: How to Limit the amount of memory used

Try changing the size of the pagefile, if I remember correctly this solved
my problem a few years ago.
I have since upgraded however.

Re: How to Limit the amount of memory used

AND THAT'S HOW TO DO IT ! ! ! fer sure !

T H A N K Y O U J. S. !

I reduced the Pagefile size to 508 Mb with a max of 509 Mb pagefile size
on my 1Gb machine.

And also, I set boot.ini to also say /burnmemory=64

Now Photoshop 3 starts right up and "System Properties" shows 960 Mb RAM

MANY THANKS J.S.
