Re: error message on startup

The thing has to be either in the start up group ff the start menu or being
loaded from the registry.
Assuming you're XP click 'Start' > 'Run' type msconfig click 'OK'
Look at the startup and services tabs and see if it is being loaded from
here. Remove the tick and that should do it for you.

Does this error appear if you start in Safe Mode? If not do some clean boot
troubleshooting to see what is running at startup that's throwing that
error.

In addition to Rock:

Packard-Bell? If so....

To solve this issue, you should delete the HDReg entry from the Scheduled
Tasks list.

To do so:
1. Click the Start button.
2. Click Control Panel.
* When in category view, click the Performance and Maintenance category.
3. Click the Control Panel icon Scheduled Tasks.
4. Select the item HDREG.
5. Click Delete this item and confirm the operation.
