Scheduling backups using NTBACKUP

Hi,

I have setup an automated incremental backup using NTBACKUP under my user ID
and this is scheduled in XP schedule manager.

Alas although I can see backups in the scheduler they will not kickoff for
another user ID which is not what I want. I need them to kickoff independant
of user.

Any ideas whats going wrong and how to resolve?

What makes you think that they don't kick off? They
probably do but they cannot finish because the account
you use has insufficient access rights to the stuff you're
trying to back up, or it uses as blank password.

Re: Scheduling backups using NTBACKUP

Pegasus,

Thanks for the reply - and good point. I noticed that the processes did kick
off but failed to perform there tasks as required. When setting up the backup
I provided my user account name and password as the account to use.

I am the admim role my box.

Any other thoughts about this? I think you're on the right track.

Regards.

Re: Scheduling backups using NTBACKUP

Since the task did start, your next job is to examine the
backup log file. Look for files backup??.log deep inside
your profile folder.
