Is there a way (command line switch maybe?) to open Windows Explorer
with the Favorites sidebar already open? I know there's a switch to
toggle between the "My Computer" mode and "Explorer" mode, but I haven't
been able to find anything about opening Windows Explorer with the
Favorites already open.

Not sure if you can do it with switches, but I am sure you would be able
with a registry tweak
