Backup software- any of them backup just what's been saved?

This is for my wife, who cannot seem to get it in her head to keep all of
her file within My Documents. She saves anywhere and everywher and then she
searches. Forget it I've tried...
....So. My question is:
Is there backup software out there that runs in the background, which will
automatically backup a saved file on the fly?

If she creates a Word let's say, and she hits Save, the software will
automatically put a copy on the backup drive, in the same folder as on the
hard drive on her computer.

Sort of like simulating a mirroring/raid set up.

Thanks!

Hmmm - it seems odd that she's doing this, given that most applications will
automatically respect the My Documents path, and you'd have to go well out
of your way to save files elsewhere (unless you mean downloads from the
Internet, etc - which you can fix by using Mozilla and specifying a folder
for downloads)

Not that I know of, although you might check out Acronis' desktop products
and get an external USB/firewire drive.

Wellllllll...If she doesn't know how to set up default locations
for her files, then I guess that you had better teach her or
hire someone to do same. Many applications have default settings
as well as the ability to change these settings. Education is
the key...not a magic bullet. Write down on a piece of PAPER as
to where the files are going when and if she SAVES...then you
both can find them.

Work with her on this. Don't YELL either...she will resent that.
Wives can be problematic sometimes. Be patient...and hopefully
things will straighten out.
