Safe boot blue screen

I can boot up to windows xp no problem but when I try to boot in safe mode
it loads some drivers then I get a blue screen with a numeric error message.
I've checked for errors on the drive but I didn't see any. Can this mode be
turned off in the registry by any chance? I know it worked a few weeks ago.
New install about 3 months ago new system, dual boot with Vista on separate
drive.

Thanks
Len

Re: Safe boot blue screen

Check in Start\Run\"regedit" (no quotes) hit Enter and browse to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\SafeBoot

See if you find a REG_SZ value that mentions "DisableSafeBoot" and delete
it.

Re: Safe boot blue screen

Also check the Minimal and Network subkeys, if they have a minus symbol
(-Minimal or -Network) correct the subkey name.

Change from:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\SafeBoot\-Minimal]
To:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\SafeBoot\Minimal]

And from:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\SafeBoot\-Network]
To:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\SafeBoot\Network]

Also scan your computer for possible virus, trojan or spyware infection.

What is the "numeric error message"?

Most STOP errors use hexadecimal (numbers 0 to 9 and letters a to f)
notation to identify the actual error and several associated
parameters. That information, properly interpreted, will usually
help to diagnose the underlying cause of the problem.
