save file on shared drive, file name corrupted but not file

Hello,

I'm saving or copying files from an xp drive to a 95 drive and the
file name gets changed to a garbled name, the file is still intact,
just the name gets changed. Any ideas?

Is this similar?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/142982

A side note, you may want to alter your email address in newsgroups so
the address doesn't get picked up for spam. Note the change to mine,
which still makes it usable, but not in it's unaltered state.

Is it Win95 version B ? or A ?
right-click my computer - properties will tell you.
If version A ( rather NOt " B" then disk = FAT only, which means that the
filename format is very limited.
BY "Garbled" do you mean it goes from
abcdefghijklmn.txt to abcdef~.txt OR
something TOTALLY different, like
1xddsdfdff.txt ?

It's something totally different like 1xddffrr.txt
The names might be too long, but the problem just started happening,
and I know they've always used long file names.

I just tested it, long filenames are no problem.

I'm just troubleshooting with you... ownership matter ?
How about point of view :
log onto XP box as harry
Make a new file and save it to Win95 box .
Make another in XP save local, THEN copy it to Win95 box.
Does HE see same name on both ?
If so, have Harry log onto Win95 box etc
