| Relocating or moving My Documents folder? Hi there, I recently fitted a second 500GB HDD in my HTPC with the sole purpose of moving the contents of My Documents to it (music, photos, videos etc.) I thought it best to keep the system drive and data drives separate... I figured the best way of achieving this would be to right-click the current My Documents/Properties/Move, select the new drive D:\ and click OK This started off the move but when I checked some time later it had stopped 10 seconds before time and a window had popped up; Error moving Documents 'Cannot remove folder My Music. It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again.' The only way out was to click OK then another window popped up; Error moving Documents 'Windows is unable to move all of the Documents to D:\ You can still access the Documents that were not moved at the location C:\Documents & Settings\Administrator\My Documents' Thinking that a program might have a lock on it I rebooted and tried again to no avail. I checked Task Manager to see if there was anything else running that might explain it but found nothing. Does this really mean that some of my files are split between the two drives? I have checked D:\ and it looks like the files have made it across so was the error just not being able to delete the original My Music folder only? The Properties on My Documents is still set to the new location of D:\ What might be the cause of this and how would I overcome it? I am running WinXp SP2...hang on its MCE 2005 if that makes a difference? -- Thanks & regards, -pp- |

Reboot Windows, and then run the following command from Start/Run dialog: shell:my music Press ENTER. Does it point to D:\... drive? -- Regards, Ramesh Srinivasan, Microsoft MVP [Windows Shell/User] Windows® Troubleshooting http://www.winhelponline.com "Pheasant Plucker®" <pheasant@plucker.not> wrote in message news:uUPV79NqHHA.4324@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl...
