| Screensaver problem The past few days I've been having a problem. I like to leave my computer on at night to run virus scans and complete downloads while I sleep. The past few days I've noticed in the morning that a screensaver is on, even though I have always had it disabled, and when I exit the screensaver all programs that had been running are no longer doing so. I've double checked to make sure the screensaver is turned off, and it is. I'm not sure how long it takes before it comes on since it always happens when I'm asleep, but I didn't touch it for 2 hours the other day and the screensaver never started, but that night when I was asleep it started again shutting down all programs in the process. The only thing that has changed in the past few days is that I installed XP Service Pack 2, but I haven't been able to find any info on this happening to anybody else. If anybody has any ideas I would really appreciate some help. -- NoCode0680 |

| Re: Screensaver problem Well there is a firewall, but it was supposed to allow downloads from the program I was using. However last night I decided to try and turn the firewall off just to see if that was the problem, and this morning everything was fine, the screensaver didn't start. I would like not to have to leave the computer naked though. -- NoCode0680 |

I wonder if it would help to rename the file so it isn't found.. Someone here should know why it starts.. possibly it's because you have the power settings set to "Prompt for password after returning from standby". -- Joe =o) |

| Re: Screensaver problem You sure the system didn't just reboot? Check the Event Viewer for info. NoCode0680 wrote: > Yeah, the prompt for password after standby was checked, I unchecked > it, and I'll see later on tonight if that has anything to do with it. > Thanks Joe > > > > |
