Desktop problem

I was switching wallpaper imiges on my 2 monitors. All went well, but
all of a sudden I'm seeing a new little box with a red "x" in it
(broken link or broken icon) in the upper left corner. The only other
item on my desktop is the Recycle Bin icon.
I tried everything I can think of (except a System Restore), but the
little box remains. It won't move, delete, and is not selectable
(right or left click).
Any suggestions?

Go to the Display applet in Control Panel and look on the Desktop tab.
Click on Customize Desktop, and then click on the Web tab. You will see
that there are checkmarks next to "My Current Home Page" and probably
"Lock Desktop Items". Uncheck these, Apply/OK out.
