| Dialup connection keeps appearing Hi, I am running Windows XP home SP2 on my pc, I am connected via broadband but have a couple of dialups as fail safes if the broadband goes down. Over the last couple of days I keep getting the Network Connections popup asking me to choose a connection even though I am connected using broadband, I have the settings selected for LAN Any ideas? Thanks Gerald |

Turn that off. Also, this might indicate that you are connecting directly to the DSL or Cable modem. A router is a very good idea; they are cheap, easy to configure, add a good layer of protection, add versatility and will help minimize that kind of problem. Put the router and the modem on a small battery UPS, so that they get clean uninterrupted power, and they will be stabler and last longer. HTH -pk |
