Chance display screen number

When..
Right click on desktop, properties, settings.

For dual-monitors/screens, how can I switch which to be display 1 or display
2?
In other words, how can I select what the main display screen is, and what
the additional one is?
My computer seems to get it backwards on start up every other time.

Each setup is somewhat different... but I'll tell you some things to
try ...

Try moving the monitors... or just swap cables...
Try moving the images of the monitors, on the screen, click 1, and
move it to the other side of 2...

ATI does it one way, nVidia does it another..... each has their
nuances...

Re: Chance display screen number

As I recall, the one you set as Primary should remain as the number "1".
Now there may be something else going on if it is changing. That would
depend a lot on how your system is configured and what hardware is
initially seen in boot up.

Re: Chance display screen number

That does not set the Primary/secondary screen. All it does is change which
side of the screen the display 2 will continue on.

Re: Chance display screen number

How do I set it as "Primary"?

Another thing is that it is not installed by it's driver/name, but as "Plug
and Play monitor". So if the option is in driver or something, I'm not sure
how I would be able to switch it there.

RE: Chance display screen number

I noticed the check box "Use this device as the Primary monitor". However it
does not let me change it (faded/disabled option).

Display 1 has it check marked while Display 2 is not, can't edit either.

RE: Chance display screen number

I have noticed a check mark option in the settings tab that says "Use this
device as the Primary monitor", how it is a faded/disabled option.

It is checked on display 1, but I cannot edit it on either as it is a
disabled option.

Re: Chance display screen number

Can't.

1. One VGA, other DVI
2. One time it will load as one being the primary, the next time the other
will be. Pretty random by choice.

If there anyway to enable that option to set the primary? Or any way around
it?

RE: Chance display screen number

Solved it using ATI's Catalyst Control Center software.

Thanks.
