logitech web cam

i'm having trouble installing my web cam.. i've installed the cd that came
with the web cam but as soon as i connect the device i get a message saying
files needed. It says that the file needed is 'dshowext.ax' which is on the
service pack 2 for windows xp home adition. If i've already installed the
service pack 2 a long time ago so why is it asking for it???

Try to search for it on your computer and copy it to this path:
C:\Windows\System32\Driver
From here if it there:
C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\
You can copy it from another machine has the same operating system as yours.
Open a run command and type in:
regsvr32 showext.dll
Make sure your machine is malware free and run this command:
sfc /scannow you will need XP CD handy.
HTH.
