| Windows XP won't shut down or Restart etc. I wonder if anyone can help, I'm running Windows XP Home, all upto date with the latests patches etc, running OneCare etc. When I try to shut down or restart Windows it won't, I get a message to say 'saving my settings' and then says 'Windows is shutting down', at which point it just stays on that screen and requires myself to use the power button to turn it off. Can anyone help? Regards Gary |

First, make sure the computer is completely virus/malware-free. I would not rely on OneCare (the antivirus part of which is one of the lowest-rated in the industry) for this. http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...moving_Malware If the machine is clean, then go through this shutdown troubleshooter: http://www.aumha.org/win5/a/shtdwnxp.htm Malke -- Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com "Don't Panic!"
