| Unable to identify wireless home network printer to install I hope this doesn’t end up as a duplicate up my earlier attempt to ask question. I timed out just as I sent and it doesn’t seem to have posted. Two wireless laptops connected wirelessly through a Linksys access point that is hardwired to a Dell 1700n printer. Previously no problems with either machine printing. Dad is a Dell D620 running XP Pro, Network Associates AV, and recently added Spysweeper. Mom is a Sony Vaio PCG TR3a running XP Home, Network Associates AV and also recently added Spysweeper. Also, we recently rebuilt her hard drive. Since then, Mom cannot print unless Dad is awake. I am unable to install the Dell 1700n on her computer because I can’t find it on the network. I have run Home Network multiple times, bounced router and machines. Dad can see all and do all. Mom can see Dad, and his files and the Dell printer on his machine, but I cannot find the printer from her machine. I can Ping the IP address of the printer from her machine, but I can’t browse to it or have the network go to it by entering either the IP address or the port name (scavenged from properties in Dad’s computer) in the Add Printer wizard. The other peculiar and annoying element, maybe not relevant, is that when I run the home network wizard, it sets up a network bridge that ruins my connectivity to the access point until I delete manually it. This never happened to me before and I haven’t been able to control that. Help! |
