XP machine won't do the 'Remember Password' bit

Hi All

Just do not know why this won't work.

Got 2 x brand new PCs exactly the same spec running XP Pro SP2.

Machines are behind a proxy/firewall so when they are in IE and they want to
go to the outside world of web pages they receive a little grey box that
asks them for a username and password and also has a little checkbox saying
remember this password. This grey box is the standard one that you get
built into Windows/IE and when I type valid login details and check the
checkbox, I'm straight into the outside world sites and away. HOWEVER when
I close the browser, bring it back up and type in an outside world web site
(eg Google) the login details are not retained and I have to type them in
again. When I type them in I'm back through again, but the system isn't
saving the settings.

I've done Clear Passwords in IE's internet options and I've gone into User
Accounts and removed the line/entry in 'manage my network passwords', but I
still can't get it to save these settings.

On the other side of the coin, the other PC just saved it without a squawk!

Any ideas how I get the other to save the settings?

Thanks

Turn OFF Autocomplete, restart windows, and turn it back on. It will work then.

AutoComplete is an encripted entry in the registry. There are a number of
variables in the encription that might have become corrupt. Probably, your
user profile in some way changed.
