what are you expecting the print screen button to do? pressing this
button takes a screenshot of the desktop, you can then open the likes
of ms paint or photoshop, create a new document then press ctrl+v (or
click edit/paste) and it will paste the screenshot as an image.

if this doesnt work then either the key is stuffed or windows has
incorrectly recognised the keyboard and you need to reinstall it.

Pressing the Print Screen key in windows sends a copy of the screen to the
clip board, you can then paste that image into a suitable application and
print from there, it does not send your screen image directly to the
printer. Alt-Print Screen sends a copy of the active window to the clip
board.

Or use the free for non-commercial use Faststone Capture. It is great!

Pressing the <PrtScn> key copies the entire display, including the
Desktop Wallpaper, to the clipboard. Pressing <ALT>+<PrtScn> copies
only the active Window to the clipboard (iow, into RAM). To view the
screen capture, open a graphics program, such as MS Paint, and press
<CTRL>+V. This will paste the contents of the clipboard (your
screenshot) into the open file, and allow you to view it or save it as a
file for later use.
